I now have a team to look after me and I am in good hands. I have Professor Sali at the National Institute of Integrative Medicine in Melbourne, Kerri Felton (Naturopath in Albury) and Dr Michael Kuzeff (GP in Albury, who also has qualifications in Homeopathy, Integrative Medicine and Nutritional & Environmental Medicine). It is such a relief to have three professionals who support one another, and me, as I navigate my way to health.
My recent checkups and blood tests reveal that I am well in the safe range in everything, including the number cancer cells in my blood. I work hard at keeping healthy:
- Daily walks (aiming for 10,000 steps, and sometimes doing it!)
- I attend two local exercise classes per week, with a local gym teacher.
- Eating a Mediterranian diet, but excluding meat, dairy, gluten and sugar.
- I am following my Professor's advice to eat oily fish, pomegranate juice and sauerkraut every day.
- I grow as many vegetables, sprouts and micro greens as possible.
- I cook from scratch with my new Thermomix, including grinding my own flours, making my own stock and curry pastes, bread, coconut yoghurt and nut butter.
- I spend time every day meditating, doing Qigong and reading growthful stuff.
I am trying to keep up my Japanese, recorder and piano practice, as well as some knitting. I will never be bored! If anybody has any clues on how better to manage my days, please let me know.
However, I am well and while I am very conscious of the still unknown causes of cancer returniing, I am doing my best to follow the science that is known.
Just in case, with Keith's support, I am making a wish come true. I am travelling to Japan for a 10 week experience in a remote mountain village in Kyushu Island, Japan (see picture). I leave mid April. I won't be completely alone, as I will be living close to my Japanese sister and kindred spirit.
